Rules-on-the-go

I’m experimenting with a new version of the one-shot dungeon where the reader picks up the rules on-the-go.

Character Creation?

We replace this with just ‘here are pre-made characters’.

Basic Tasks?

Just ‘roll 2D6 + Attribute + Skill’. I think anyone who picks up obscure Indie RPGs will understand that just fine.

Combat

Literally just 5 bullet-points on attack, damage, and Action Points. I’ll leave weapon rules until the PCs might actually discover weapons.

Darkness

In the second combat-ready scene, the players might fight. This seems like a good time to introduce rules on fighting in the dark.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to cover everything a GM needs, but that’s the hope - a oneshot to introduce the rules.

Instant Summaries

I’ve set up the core book to have a short description of each combat situation and manoeuvre, so any other book can reference them and get a summary of the rule (or spell) in a footnote.

Versions

A one-shot should be short, but it seemed a shame to cut the adventure too short. I’ve added a secondary compile option to the oneshot book, so that GMs can have a longer game if they choose. It produces a similar dungeon, but with a new, second level.
